Shirley started Possible Mama because she found herself as a professional working Mama with an exceptional child. She realized that juggling a career, the needs of her sweet child, and herself can be quite overwhelming and demanding. Between work, doctor visits, special diets for my Sun, dealing with my Sun’s educational needs and school, and maintaining a household, I found my needs were getting overlooked and my creativity stifled. I took a hard look at myself when everything began falling apart. Chores were being neglected. I stopped interacting with my friends. My marriage fell apart. My Sun barely did anything outside the house. I began picking up the pieces and realized that taking care of myself MUST be a priority in order to take care of my Sun. I began to dig deep by meditating daily, regained a sense of peace and faith, nourished my body with a healthy foods and sleep, strengthened my support network, choose a career that aligned with my values and got my household in order. Today, I can happily say both my Sun and I are thriving all because I choose to put my self care needs first.
